MAXX Covermodel, Melissa Marie, is taking modeling by the seat of her pants, competing in pageants and about to be featured in three online magazines as well as two upcoming print publications. It seems there's nothing she can't do.
Eager to get herself noticed and represented, Melissa is working hard to gain as much exposure as possible.
MAXX got her to take a moment from her busy life to answer a few questions for us and allow our readers to get to know a bit about her.
Melissa was born November 6, 1987. At a very early age, she started to grow an interest in modeling, "at age twelve," comments Melissa.
What got you into modeling?
"Actually my father got me into modeling. I was always intrigued by it, but my father really pushed me to go in that direction. He got me started at John Robert Powers when I was 16 and my interest in modeling just flourished. During that time I was finding myself, discovering who I was and modeling really played a big part in transitioning my life to who I am and where I am now."
While attending JRP, Melissa went on numerous auditions, including one for Hot Topic, "and some others I don't want to mention," she laughs. "I would consider my first professional gig as the one for MAXX Magazine in 2006. I was on the cover of the June issue. It was lots of fun for me. Chad is very creative :)"
Since then, Melissa has done a handful of other modeling jobs.
Do you recall your worst modeling experience?
"My worst modeling experience was when I modeled for the Vintage Clothing store. They were soo unorganized, just really a mess... One thing I did like were all the unique vintage clothes, I wanted to take the clothes I shot in home with me!"
"Modeling has been a love of mine for many now. I know that now is the perfect time to move forward with one of the things I love the most. I put my mind, soul, and heart very passionately in this and with that combination I know it can only lead to success."
Her dream is to model for Maxim. "I'm going to be in that magazine if it's the last thing I do!" She laughs. She would love to model somewhere lush and tropical, shooting in the water and on the sand, "That's ideal!"
What do you like best about modeling? The hair, the makeup, the pampering?
"I love the confidence it gives me. How it allows me to become something else. In a way it's like acting. You are able to bring out a characteristic in yourself that's not as prominent normally. And, of course, I love all the pampering!! What girl doesnt?"
When it comes to supermodel status, we definitely think Melissa has what it takes. When asked who her favorite supermodel was, she responded "Tyra Banks! Even with all her years in the industry, and all her success, she's still just her - very down to earth. That's very admirable to me"
Like many supermodels, we think Melissa has staying power to model for years upon years.
"In ten years I see myself modeling still. I know I'll look very young and be in good shape still. ;) Maybe do some acting or have my own series..."
Kinda like Tyra!
Ok, let's get personal for just a second... We all know that Melissa is breathtaking to behold, but what is she like when she's not in front of the camera? Personally, I know her to be a goofy person, who loves to laugh and loves spontaneity.
What's the craziest thing you've ever done on a whim?
"Oh..." she laughs, "there are soo many!...Lets see...One of the craziest thing I have done, or dumbest I would say recently...LOL... was I went with a boyfriend on a road trip to Washington in the middle of a snow storm. Come to find out there hasn't been a snow storm like that since the 1960's! On top of that, I had a broken foot! It was definitely an adventure. I would never do that again!"
When she's not modeling, she loves spending time with her son, Rayyan, "I love, love, LOVE spending time with my son. He's the light of my life and every moment spent with him is wonderful... Family, it's just the most important thing in life to me."
What would you do instead of modeling?
"If I could...I would race for NASCAR! Everyone that knows me knows I love driving fast. Haahah... (Sorry mom!)"
And I can speak from experience, when driving with Melissa, wear a seatbelt!
Now, I'm sure everyone would agree that Melissa is just absolutely drop dead gorgeous, but definitely very sexy.
I'm sure you get called SEXY by a lot of people. What makes you feel sexiest? What could someone do to make you feel sexy?
"LOL...Geez... That's definitely a big compliment... I'd have to say I feel sexiest on days when I'm just lounging in my sweats and a tank top, my hair pinned back in a messy bun. I look in the mirror and just feel really sexy. Sometimes it just takes a compliment by someone to feel sexy."
Having seen her that way, I have to agree, she definitely is just as sexy without all the glam. Melissa is truly one of the most amazing models MAXX photographer, Chad Jason, of Risqé Factor, has ever had the pleasure to work with, and takes every opportunity to do so.
"Melissa is truly exquisite," comments Chad. "She's one of the sweetest girls I've ever met, so down to earth and humble. And such a goofy personality. I have so much fun shooting with her. It seems we never get through everything we plan 'cuz we're too busy having fun and talking. But that only means we have to plan another shoot!"
Okay, time to wrap things up. Out of curiosity, we asked Melissa about her limits when it comes to modeling, what she'd do or NOT do to get a modeling job, or for a modeling job, as well as the scariest thing she's done during a shoot.
"I would not do like erotic nude shoots. I would never do that. It's not me and goes against morals I have for myself... The scariest thing I have done for a shoot was get into muddy water and fish were biting my toes! I was so scared! But I still remained calm so we could capture the shots we wanted. It was a challenge for me!"
Bold, beautiful and daring. Just the way we like her. Melissa is the perfect model, so it would seem!
